Our story
A porch, not a private office.
Image to follow — the porch, or the office
Around 300 BC, a teacher named Zeno began holding lessons in the Stoa Poikile — the “painted porch” — a public colonnade on the north side of the Athens marketplace. He didn’t hire a hall or found an academy behind a gate. He taught on a porch anyone could walk through: traders, sailors, labourers, citizens. The people who stopped, listened and stayed became known by where they stood — the Stoics.
That porch is the whole idea behind this company. Recruitment done in the open — rates you can see, terms in plain English, a consultant who answers the phone — rather than behind an account-management wall. We’re not chasing anyone through the marketplace. We’re building somewhere worth stopping for.
Stoa Recruitment is new. Every habit here was learned the long way on other people’s desks: what happens when an agency over-promises a 6am start, what a bad send costs a production line, what candidates remember about the agencies that told them the truth.
So “new” is the honest word, and we use it in the present tense. No invented heritage, no stock-photo team, no “trusted for decades.” What we have instead is old discipline in a new name — and a standard, written down below, that you can check us against from day one.
“Well-being is realised by small steps, but is truly no small thing.”
